The Castle of Chambord

To understand Chambord, you have to let yourself be won over by the exaltation and excessiveness of François I. Just twenty-five years old, he wants to give the world a spectacular testimony to his two passions: hunting and architecture. To fully appreciate it you must surrender yourself. And discover a unique place built at the start of the Renaissance.
First, cross a wall 20 miles long. Then, enter a dense forest with game. Then, discover in its heart an intact architectural jewel. You have to let yourself be crushed by its gigantism, outside of any human scale. Be surprised by this alchemy of shapes and structures where nothing is left to chance. Chambord is much more than a castle. It is an exceptional architecture, a technical feat, a colossus of stones. Quite simply the dream of young King Francis.

The owners invite you to discover a fantastic heritage, authentic and very much alive.

The Castle of Talcy

Cute, let's go see if the rose… These lines by Ronsard have crossed the centuries. We still remember them today. They were intended for Cassandre, the daughter of Bernard Salviati, owner of the Château de Talcy. Isolated in the Beauce, 10 km north of the sea and 26 km from Blois. Talcy was in the 13th century a seigneury and a rich Beauceron agricultural domain.

The history of Talcy begins in 1517. Bernard Salviati, relative of the Medici and a wealthy Florentine banker attached to the court of François I, bought the castle and its outbuildings. It was around 1520 that Salviati built his new home. It was also the period when the great Renaissance châteaux of the Loire Valley rose up. And yet, Talcy's home remains foreign to Italian fashion without decorative research and rather retaining the appearance of a building from the end of the Middle Ages.

The Castle of Villesavin

Located 17 km from Blois, 9 km from Chambord and 6 km from Cheverny between the D.923 and D.102, the Villesavin castle was built on the site of the old seigneury. Having belonged, at the beginning of the XVIth century, to Guy de Châtillon, count of Blois, by Jean le Breton, lord of Villandry and Villesavin, secretary of finances of King François 1st and charged by the latter with the "conduct and payments of works of Chambord ”. The work was executed by the same French and Italian masters and workers who built the great royal residences and has come down to us, through four centuries, in almost perfect integrity.

During the visit, you will be seduced by its Florentine Carrara marble basin, its skylight pediments with figures, its frescoed chapel or its rare dovecote on foot. You can visit its museum of horse-drawn carriages and children's cars and enjoy its green setting where you will find the Baudet du Poitou breeding farm.

The city of Blois and his royal Castle

Endowed with a remarkable historical and natural heritage, quality infrastructures and a rich and varied program, the city of Blois obtains the label City of art and history in 1986. In the heart of the Loire Valley , listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Blois combines a gentle way of life, heritage protection, culture and tourist development. The Royal Castle of Blois, residence of the kings and queens of France, a must-see in the Loire Valley. The Royal Castle of Blois presents a veritable panorama of the architecture and history of the châteaux of the Loire.

Home to 7 kings and 10 queens of France, the Royal Castle of Blois is a place that evokes the power and daily life of the Court during the Renaissance. As evidenced by the royal apartments, furnished and adorned with magnificent polychrome decorations. With four wings of different styles, its architectural richness echoes the diversity of the many châteaux built in the Loire Valley from the Middle Ages to the 16th century. The Hall of the Estates General is thus the largest Gothic civil hall from the beginning of the 13th century visible in France.

The first half of the 16th century marked the height of the castle under the lavish reigns of Louis XII and François I, who rebuilt the castle in Renaissance style. The François I wing and in particular its famous spiral staircase are undoubtedly the most famous part of the castle.

And many other activities and sites to discover. Do not hesitate to ask us to advise you and help you prepare for your stay in our region.
